Mothers and Good Oral Health

Studies suggest that mothers with good oral health raise children who also have good oral health as adults. The combination of shared genetic factors and environmental risk factors affect oral health –including attitudes, beliefs and oral health knowledge-are passed from mother to child. It’s important for mothers to visit the dentist regularly, improving and maintaining their own dental health and to educate their children in good oral health practices at home. To our mom’s, who cleaned our gums, before we ever had teeth, and helped us brush for our first five years. To the one, who carried us to our dental appointments and helped us to make nutritious low sugar food and beverage choices, reminded us as adolescents to wear mouth guards during sports and warned us of the risks of tobacco use. Thank you, because of you we can smile.

Mom, remember that by being an example and taking care of yourself first, your children will have better oral health as adults. At Warise Family Dentistry, we are committed to being a part of this healthy family relationship. Schedule an appointment today!
